COVID-19 cases cross 23,000-mark in J&K | KNO

92 travelers among 499 test positive, tally mounts to 23,454

Srinagar, Aug 06 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday recorded 499 fresh cases of COVID-19 pandemic including 92 travelers, thus taking the total number of positive cases in the Union Territory to 23,454. With 499 new cases, the tally of positive cases in J&K has reached to 23,955 including 18,181 from Kashmir and 5,273 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 499 new cases, 416 belong to Kashmir division while as 73 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached to 18,181 including 12,339 recoveries while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 5,273 including 3,369 recoveries and 34 deaths. The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 7,310 including 5,440 from Kashmir division and 1,807 from Jammu division. With 464 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 15,708, which is 66.97 per cent of the total cases. Pertinently, Srinagar district alone has 5,699 positive cases, which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu division where total cases are 5,273. “Cases tested positive in J&K include 113 from Srinagar, 44 from Baramulla, nine from Pulwama, 20 from Kulgam, eight from Shopian, 73 from Anantnag, 52 from Budgam, 17 from Kupwara, 49 from Bandipora and 41 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 73 from Jammu division include 51 from Jammu, six from Kathua, five from Rajouri, one from Ramban, two from Udhampur, five from Samba, one from Poonch and two from Kishtwar,” officials disclosed. As per officials figures, 5,699 positive cases including 144 deaths and 3,180 recoveries are from Srinagar, 2,041 cases including 73 deaths and 1,558 recoveries are from Baramulla, 1,743 cases including 994 recoveries and 27 deaths are from Pulwama, 1,572 cases including 1,377 recoveries and 29 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,500 cases including 24 deaths and 1,283 recoveries are from Shopian, 1,490 cases including 28 deaths and 1,153 recoveries are from Anantnag, 1,438 cases including 950 recoveries and 33 deaths are from Budgam, 1,181 cases including 957 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Kupwara, 914 cases including 553 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Bandipora and 603 cases including 334 recoveries and seven deaths are from Ganderbal. In Jammu division, 1,412 cases including 734 recoveries and 23 deaths are from Jammu district, 751 cases including 488 recoveries and three deaths are from Rajouri, 575 cases including 446 recoveries and one death are from Ramban, 565 cases including 455 recoveries and one death are from Kathua, 595 cases including 390 recoveries and two deaths are from Udhampur, 467 cases including 296 recoveries and one death are from Samba, 299 cases including 218 recoveries and two deaths are from Doda, 252 cases including 161 recoveries and one death are from Poonch, 198 cases including 71 recoveries are from Reasi and 159 cases including 110 recoveries are from Kishtwar. As per the daily information bulletin, 381,410 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 43,098 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 7,310 persons are in isolation. According to the bulletin, 286,926 persons have completed surveillance period and 43,640 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 686,808 samples are available. Out of 686,808 samples, the number of samples tested negative stands at 663,354 while as 23,454 have been tested positive, among them 7,310 are active and 15,708 persons have recovered—(KNO)
